UK duo Royal Blood channel the spirit of blues-rock like the celebrated artists White Stripes, the Black Keys, and Two Gallants. What sets them apart is their ability to crank up the intensity and volume, delivering scuzzy riffs and a burst of energy.
Disrupting the music scene with their debut album "Royal Blood" in 2014, which earned them a Mercury Prize nomination and a Brit Award win, they continued their success with releases like "How Did We Get So Dark?" in 2017, "Typhoons" in 2021, and now "Back to the Water Below" in 2023.
Formed in 2013, this dynamic duo is composed of drummer Ben Thatcher and bassist/vocalist Mike Kerr. Their signature sound is characterized by thunderous drums, a heavily distorted bass guitar and Kerr's soul-stirring vocals.
Their talent was quickly recognized, as they earned a spot on the BBC's Sound of 2014 list and received praise from Matt Helders of the Arctic Monkeys, who donned their T-shirt at the 2013 Glastonbury performance and even invited them to open for the Monkeys' huge Finsbury Park shows. The rock duo are no stranger to epic performances! Royal Blood has also shared the stage with legends like Iggy Pop and Foo Fighters. In 2015, they clinched the title of Best British Group at the Brit Awards, receiving their trophy from the legendary Led Zeppelin guitarist Jimmy Page.
Their North America tour comes in support of "Back To The Water Below," marking their first release since 2021’s "Typhoons" which saw them exploring alt-dance territory.
They recently dropped the album's first single, "Mountains At Midnight." And it’s a TUNE! The band revealed that the album was inspired by advice taken from Jack White. “Jack White once said that it took him 30 years to figure out that the first thing he plays in the studio is the thing,” Kerr recalled. “Deep down, I think that’s something I knew, but I really respected it this time around. We honored our instincts and the first thing we played.”
