Psychedelia-influenced electro-funk band Khruangbin formed in Houston, Texas in the late 2000s and released their debut album,The Universe Smiles Upon You, in 2015. Comprised of Laura Lee on bass, Mark Speer on guitar, and Donald Ray "DJ" Johnson Jr. on drums, the group's beginnings came about in 2004 when Lee and Speer met whilst playing in Rudy Rasmus's St. John's Methodist Church gospel band in Houston, Texas. The band released their second studio album, Con Todo El Mundo, in January 2018.
